Marc Savoie from Campbellton,NB,CANADA Premier Chess Pieces with 4 1/8" King Reviewyou can't get a better set for the price!!!i also own the similar styled 4' collector set from the house of staunton(which is more than double the price) and find the premiere set to look better and very close in quality!although they are a bit lighter,they're actually a bit bigger than the house of staunton set.both sets fits nicely on a 2.5' square vinyl board.just watch for the queens.they have sharp crowns and i used sandpaper to soften them.and i attach a piece of rag over the crowns for storage for protection.if you order from canada,you will pay more than 40$ of shipping for a single set!bravo UPS AND FREE TRADE!!!

My 4' collector set fits nicely on a big 2.5 inch squares rollup board.a 2.25 ' board is too small.i wish i could find a similar set in 4.4' club size.

They work great with a normal tournament-size vinyl board. The queens *are* pretty sharp, but it's not really a problem. Good price, too.

The rest of the pieces (including 2 Queens) are in perfect proportion. The pieces are wonderfully weighted and, while plastic, have a very nice "wooden" look. They look great on my 2-1/4" squares board. You will have to pay a lot more to equal this set.

However, as someone mentioned before, the queens are extremely sharp and could injury someone with puncture wounds if handled to roughly. I resolved this issue with a nail file and about 5 minutes and I am happy overall with my purchase.

The set was larger than I expected which was actually perfect for the size of the squares. The pieces are nice and heavy and made very well. Would definitely recommend this set! I thought the "sharp Queen" remarks were overstated in other reviews, but it's actually something to factor in. Not only is the Queen the least attractive piece in the set (opinion, of course) but you can actually hurt yourself playing with it (esp. in blitz, but even just casually putting a bit too much weight behind your hand as you touch the piece). I'm actually considering filing the points down a bit, but for now we just grip her by the collar. Otherwise, excellent set.
