Description of Nobility Series Wood Chess Pieces 4" King - Bud Rosewood
This set has been crafted to imitate the prevailing design and dimension of the original Staunton pattern Chessmen, registered by Nathaniel Cook in March of 1849 and first manufactured by Jaques of London in September 1849. The distinctive feature of this set is in the Knight design, which is modeled after the
noble steeds from the Greek Parthenon. Its craftsmanship is stunning.
The Nobility Series from our Premier Collection is Crafted from Bud Rosewood and Boxwood. Bud Rosewood is a striking, red-burgundy-colored, light-grained, exotic wood which is more expensive than ebony, but is much more resilient and less likely to develop hairline cracks so prevalent in weighed ebony chessmen. The King stands 4" tall with a 1 3/4" base. From the noble Knight to the towering Rook, these pieces are sure to catch the eye. These pieces fit well on a board with 2.25 - 2.5" squares.

Customer Reviews of Nobility Series Wood Chess Pieces 4" King - Bud Rosewood
Bob from Davenport, Iowa Nobility Series Wood Chess Pieces 4" King - Bud Rosewood ReviewA beautiful Chess Set that is even more striking sitting on your chess board than it is in the pictures. The Red Sandal Wood dark pieces are really nice to look at. This set compares favorably with the House of Staunton sets. I know, because I own some of the HOS sets too.
