What an elegant set of chess pieces! The Columbian Series Wood Chess Pieces is one of those sets you'll treasure for the rest of your life. The majestic king proudly stands 4 1/2" tall and has a base of 1 7/8 inches. As with all the bottoms of this set, he has a base of classic leather.
The king stands the tallest, but not to overlooked is the beautiful knight that comes with this set. He is 3 1/2 inches tall--as tall as many kings in other sets and his base is 1 5/8 inches. His elegance stems from his flowing mane that crosses over the back of his sturdy neck and his slightly laid back ears. He is truly a noble steed.
Due to the size of this set, you will want to choose a board with a square of 2.125 - 2.5 inches. The dark side of this set is Ebony, a hard dark wood. It also comes in Bud-Rosewood as item SR928.

It is beautiful, the chess set of a lifetime. It looks almost like sculpure but you can hold it in your hand. When I dare to the take it to my chess club for a special game it always draws an admiring crowd.
