Description of Basic Magnetic Chess and Checker Set
The Basic Magnetic Travel Chess and Checkers Set measures 7 1/4 x 7 1/4 x 1 1/4" when opened and folds to 7 1/4 x 3 3/4 x 1" when folded for travel or storage. It is a great little take-along set for those games on the run. It also makes a great inexpensive gift or prize.
It has green and white 3/4 inch squares with notation, and is made of plastic. It has sliding locks inside the board to hold it open in a flat position when you want to play. Both the chess and the checker pieces store inside the board when it is folded. The king on this set is approximately 1 1/4" tall. A full set of 32 chess pieces and 24 checkers pieces are included.
This set is so reasonably priced that it makes an excellent prize or gift, or even a party favor for chess parties. Due to the small magnetic pieces included with this set it is not intended for children 3 or younger.

Millie from Houston Basic Magnetic Chess and Checker Set ReviewThe magnets on the bottom of the pieces kept falling out. The outer paper box itself was not glued together very well, so it fell apart at the glued area. This would not make a very good gift.

However, the magnets are not well inserted in some of the pieces which cause some pieces to stand slanted. One of the pawns in my set had the magnet inserted too deeply so it wouldn't stick at all. I ordered 5 and 3 of them were fine. 2 had a few issues... overall decent set.
