The 16" Magnetic Travel Wood Chess Set with Fitted Insert is the nicest folding travel chess set available. At a large, but manageable, 16" x 8" x 2" when folded, this board can go anywhere, but make you feel like you are still playing at home! It is made of quality boxwood and features absolutely stunning workmanship.
The pieces are beautifully hand carved in the traditional Staunton style and are held in a fitted case inside of the board! The King is 3" tall. And with magnets inside, these pieces really hold their position even though you would never guess it is magnetic! Included with this sets is a drawstring cloth bag to help protect your set in travel.

The old king was 3 3/8" inches tall, and the new one barely reaches 3". That doesn't sound like much, but all the pieces are proportionately smaller. Too bad. I bought several of the older sets for our chess club, but I'm returning the two sets that just arrived at my house.
