Description of Fritz Trainer - Davies: The London System
By playing the London System, with 1.d4 followed by 2.Nf3 and 3.Bf4, White can avoid a theoretical discussion and instead use natural ability plus a knowledge of plans. The weight of the struggle tends to shift towards the middlegame, but White can also pull off devastatingly quick wins should Black be unaware of the dangers. Against some of the most natural moves you can imagine, White often whips up devastating attacks as can be seen in the games of David Bronstein, Gata Kamsky, Vlatko Kovacevic and Pavel Blatny. On this DVD Davies explains how White should play against Blacks various different set-ups using twenty-one illustrative games. He also discusses how the typical pawn structures influence play later in the game, so the viewer will always know what he should be trying to do. Video running time: more than 4 hours.Nigel Davies has been a Grandmaster since 1993 and is a former British Open Quickplay and U21 Champion. He has played the London System in his own games.System requirements: Pentium-Processor at 300 Mhz or higher, 64 MB RAM, Windows XP, Windows Vista, DVD drive, mouse, soundcard
Customer Reviews of Fritz Trainer - Davies: The London System
Vincent from Dalton Fritz Trainer - Davies: The London System ReviewNigel is an excellent teacher for all levels of play. He is clear and engaging. I especially like his "what's going on here" remarks when he reaches a position that needs some explaining. I gave the DVD four stars because I thought one or two of the games selected for review weren't all that instructive. Overall, this is a very good DVD.
John Galt from Orlando, Fl Fritz Trainer - Davies: The London System ReviewHighly recommended. I liked it so much that I bought several more Fritz Trainers by Nigel Davies. He illustrates the London System using games from 21 Masters and Grand Masters including Gata Kamsky and Boris Spassky. Rather than just show the "correct" moves, he explores the branches of the tree that are dead ends. The London System is great way to play white if you don;t have the time to build an extensive repertoire of book openings. And it works against all but a very few black defenses.
Brian from Andover Fritz Trainer - Davies: The London System ReviewExcellent DVD. Davis is not boring and explains his material clearly.
